Teen Injured on Blue Line Train
A teen-ager playing “dare” with four other boys by hopping on and off a Metrorail Blue Line train lost several toes and suffered back injuries Monday night when he missed a bar on the outside of a rail car and was run over by the car, authorities reported.
The incident occurred near the Pico-Flower station where the boys were daring each other to jump and catch the bar and then jump off, said Andrea Green, a Southern California Rapid Transit District spokesperson.
“He apparently missed and his foot got caught on the rail,” she said.
There was no delay in rail service after the 7:28 p. m. incident since the operator was unaware the boy had even been run over and continued on his southbound route, Green said.
The youth, whose name and age was not released, was taken to County-USC Medical Center.
