A 21-year-old man has pleaded guilty to child molestation charges, and a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a similar crime in the Thousand Oaks area, authorities said Friday.
Emilio De Jesus Herrera, 21, pleaded guilty to charges of sodomy and oral copulation and will be sentenced at a later date, said Ventura County Sheriff’s Detective Bill Stovall. He was being held at the Ventura County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Herrera befriended a 3-year-old boy on July 23 at an apartment complex at 1710 W. Hillcrest Drive in Newbury Park, Stovall said.
Herrera, who does landscape work in the area, gave the child a bike ride to the back of the complex, where he molested the boy, Stovall said.
In a separate case, Martin Corona Reynosa, 25, was arrested on suspicion of lewd acts and penetration with a foreign object and was being held at the Ventura County Jail on $50,000 bail.
Reynosa was a guest at a house on Calle Pensamiento in Thousand Oaks when he molested a 5-year-old girl, Stovall said.
He was arrested after attempting to run from officers at his house, Stovall said.
