Carl Bax of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, sentenced to one year of probation after pleading guilty to two charges of steroid importation, was suspended for the first three games of the NFL regular season.
Bax, a second-year offensive lineman, was arrested in May after taking delivery of 572 steroid tablets from Mexico. He denied using the banned substances and passed a voluntary drug test two days after his arrest.
