Wilson Is 1-Meter Diving Champion

DALLAS — Krista Wilson, a senior at Southern Methodist University, won the women’s one-meter springboard title Friday at the U.S. Outdoor Diving Championships.
Wilson took the lead for good after the sixth of 10 dives, passing Wendy Lucero. Lucero, the defending one-meter champion and a member of the 1988 Olympic team, finished second.
Wilson, the three-meter champion at the U.S. Indoor meet in April, out-pointed Lucero 446.97 to 443.10.
Lucero moved into second place on her final dive, edging Karla Goltman.
In the semifinals of the men’s three-meter springboard, Kent Ferguson of Boca Raton, Fla., edged Patrick Jeffrey of Columbus, Ohio.
