SURELOCK lost $170 when his combination of exacta bets in the fith and eighth races and a win bet on Shirkee in the eighth didn’t come close.
The computer’s bets for today are $40 to win and place on Hot And Smoggy in the fifth race. Also, a $50 exacta, Run To Jenny-Brown Bess, and a $30 exacta reversing the two in the eighth race.

Janice Goldinger backed into the overall lead but at least erased some of her chalk image in doing so. Her pick in the sixth race, Alinda, went off at 46-1 but finished fourth for a loss of $45.
