DeKoven A. Dent; Longtime Littlerock Resident

DeKoven A. Dent, a retired Edwards Air Force Base employee and longtime Littlerock resident, has died at his home. He was 77.
Dent died Monday of cancer, said his daughter, Pansy Clay.
Dent was born in Lincoln, Ill. He served three years in the U.S. Army during World War II, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. After he was discharged, he worked as a waiter on railroad lines between Chicago and Los Angeles, settling in Littlerock in 1954.
He worked as a supply clerk at Edwards Air Force Base from 1954 until his retirement in the late 1970s.
He is survived by his son, John Shaw of Los Angeles; a daughter, Pansy Clay of Los Angeles; a sister, Constance Winston of Los Angeles; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A graveside service is scheduled for today at 10 a.m. at the Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 2200 E. Avenue S in Palmdale. Arrangements were made by Chapel of the Valley Mortuary in Palmdale. Donations can be made in Dent’s name to the American Cancer Society.
