Hospital Provides Free Phone Tapes on Health Questions
LYNWOOD — Quick health and medical information is available to the public through the Tel-Med program at St. Francis Medical Center.
The free telephone service consists of 150 tapes in English and 100 tapes in Spanish, all prerecorded, covering such topics as cancer, heart disease, AIDS or a child’s first visit to the hospital. The tapes range from 3 to 7 minutes in length and may be accessed by calling 537-7247.
The Tel-Med program is not a substitute for the advice of a physician, but it can help callers to maintain good health, recognize early signs of illness, and help them to adjust to many medical problems they may be facing. The caller’s identity will remain anonymous, according to program director Eva Kratz.
