OCC Kicks Off Season Tonight With Long Beach

Orange Coast College opens the 1990 community college football season at 7 tonight when the Pirates play host to the Long Beach Vikings.
OCC, the only local community college team playing tonight, is led by returning quarterback Greg Angelovic. Freshman tailback Adrian Steen and sophomore fullback Jim Warren will start in the backfield.
Both teams have strong defenses. Long Beach didn’t allow a touchdown to Fullerton in a controlled scrimmage last Saturday.
“I just hope we can gain a yard or two,” OCC Coach Bill Workman said jokingly. “From what we saw, they are very good on defense and it should be a real challenge for us.”
Fullerton, Golden West, Rancho Santiago and Saddleback open their seasons Sept. 15.
