Daytime Play: NBC Retells the Truth, KCAL Holds a Trump Card

Anyone who remembers the phrase Will the real So-and-So please stand up? will bepleased to know that NBC is dusting off the venerable game show “To Tell theTruth” this fall.

That’s the biggest daytime change on the networks this fall. Daytime programmingon local independent stations is a different story. The Los Angeles-areastations will offer new versions of old game show favorites, a new one developedby Donald Trump, a talk show hosted by a former presidential hopeful and a newmenu of reruns.

Here’s a rundown of what’s new this fall on daytime TV: NETWORK NBC

“To Tell the Truth”--The Goodson-Todman game show series is back with a rotatingpanel of celebrities and Australian Gordon Elliott as host. Airs weekdays at10:30 a.m.

LOCAL KCBS

“Home Again with Bob Vila”--The former handyman host of PBSU “This Old House”returns to TV in a new weekly how-to series, which will look at building andrenovating homes. Premieres Sept. 23 at 7:30 a.m. KCAL

“ALF”--Weekday repeats of the comedy about the adventures of a alien with anappetite for cats. Premieres Sept. 17 at 5 and 5:30 p.m.

“The Challengers”--Dick Clark hosts a weekday topical game show featuringquestions ranging from current events to traditional general knowledge.Premieres Monday at 11:30 a.m.

“Jesse Jackson Show”--Geraldo, Phil, Oprah and Sally Jessy take cover, the formerpresidential candidate has tossed his hat into the talk-show ring with a newweekly series. Premieres Sept. 30 at 5 p.m.

“Graham Kerr”--Remember the wild “Galloping Gourmet”? He’s back with a newweekday cooking show. Premieres Sept. 17 at 12:30 p.m.

“Trump Card”--Donald Trump is the mastermind behind this new weekday game show,which offers contestants the opportunity to vie for cash and prizes. Produced atthe Trump Castle and Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., “Trump Card” is hosted byformer sportscaster Jimmy Cefalo. Premieres Monday at 11 a.m. KNBC

“On Scene: Emergency Response”--A look at real-life emergencies and the peoplewho save lives. Premieres Sept. 22 at 4:30 p.m.

“Weekend Travel Update”--Weekly infotainment series offering consumer travelnews. Premieres Sept. 23 at 3 p.m.

“Family Feud”--The long-running weekday game show moves from KCAL to a newchannel and time, starting Monday at 4:30 p.m.

“The Joker’s Wild”--Former weatherman Pat Finn is the host of the new weekdayedition of the veteran quiz show. Premieres Monday at 3 p.m.

“Tic Tac Dough”--The game show is back weekdays with Patrick Wayne, son of John,as the new host. Premieres Monday at 4 p.m.
