Anderson Shares Tournament Lead

Craig Anderson of Fallbrook and Bill O’Connor of Beverly Hills shot eight-under par 64s to take the first-round lead Tuesday in the Trans-Mississippi Four-Ball Championship at The Farms Golf Club in Rancho Santa Fe.
Pat Duncan of Rancho Santa Fe and Randy Reznicek of Vista shot 68s and trail by four strokes. The second round will be played today, followed by the final round on Thursday.
SOCCER
Todd Bernard scored with 18 minutes remaining off an assist from Mark Vogel to give host Point Loma Nazarene College a 1-1 tie with 12th-ranked The Masters College in a nonconference game. PLNC is 2-3-1.
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
UC Riverside defeated host UC San Diego, 15-6, 16-14, 11-15, 15-8, in a nonconference game. Vicki Van Duyne had 16 for UCSD (18-4) kills. Shandi Byrd had 14 kills for UC Riverside, which is 7-3 and ranked third in Division II.
USIU defeated host Point Loma Nazarene College, 15-8, 15-2, 15-12, in a nonconference match. Debbie Simpson led PLNC (11-5) with 13 kills. Heather Kelly led USIU (6-9) with 13 kills and April Devine had 12.
