CITY SECTION FOOTBALL ROUNDUP : Gable Runs Wild Against Van Nuys

Running back Leon Gable rushed for 327 yards and scored five touchdowns in 24 carries to power North Hollywood High to a 40-6 victory over Van Nuys in a Valley Pac-8 Conference opener Friday night at Van Nuys.
Gable (5-foot-7, 145 pounds) had touchdown runs of 18, 15, 67, 25 and 62 yards. In three games this season, he has rushed for 576 yards. Gable also deflected a Van Nuys pass out of a receiver’s hands to prevent a touchdown. North Hollywood improved to 2-1.
Robert Franklin scored the only touchdown for Van Nuys on a one-yard dive in the second quarter. Franklin rushed for 52 yards in seven carries and caught five passes for 77 yards to lead the Wolves (0-3).
