SUNSET LEAGUE : Ocean View Hangs On to Beat Winless Santa Ana
HUNTINGTON BEACH — Santa Ana High School’s bid to win its first game of the season fell a yard short of the goal line with 49 seconds left in the game, as Ocean View hung on to a 28-27 Sunset League victory Friday night over the Saints at Huntington Beach High School.
The Seahawks (4-1, 2-0) rallied with an 18-play, 80-yard, drive in the fourth quarter to take the lead. Quarterback Randy Karliner’s one-yard touchdown plunge and a two-point conversion pass from Albert Fanogato Karliner for a 28-21 lead with 1:47 left in the game.
But the Saints (0-5, 0-2) came marching back with a 75-yard drive ending with Dasy Tech’s 20-yard touchdown run with 49 seconds remaining. Tech’s sweep around right end fell a yard short of the goal line as he was cut down by a swarm of Seahawks.
