Doctor Clears Lakers’ Smith

HONOLULU — Rookie guard Tony Smith, who had been sent to Los Angeles for more tests after his preseason physical examination indicated an irregular heartbeat, was cleared by Laker physician Dr. Michael Mellman and returned to training camp Tuesday. Smith, the second-round draft choice from Marquette, was to resume practice without restriction.
