COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Grossmont Ends OCC’s Water Polo Streak at 47

The Orange Coast College water polo team’s 47-game winning streak in Orange Empire Conference play under Coach Don Watson ended Tuesday as the Pirates lost to Grossmont, 12-9, at OCC.

Watson’s teams had won three titles and were 6-0 this season in conference before Tuesday’s loss.

Grossmont led, 5-4, at the half and stretched its lead to 9-6 after three quarters. Mike McNeff had three goals and Arturo Sanchez two for OCC (16-4, 6-1).

In another Orange Empire Conference match:

Saddleback 16, Rancho Santiago 13--Jason Armison, Fred Pieracci and Ron Johnson had three goals each for visiting Saddleback (5-11, 1-4).

Cypress 10, Palomar 8--Brian Pickler had three goals for visiting Cypress (13-6, 4-2).

In Orange Empire Conference men’s soccer:

Fullerton 2, Cypress 0--David Uzzi and Keith Barnes scored in the second half for host Fullerton (4-7-2, 2-3-1).

Irvine Valley 2, Golden West 2--Kevin Martin and Jesus Silva scored in the first half for Golden West (0-3-2, 3-8-1), but Mike Densmore and Brad Wilson scored in the second half for host Irvine Valley (8-1-4, 1-1-3).
