THE SIDELINES : Skokie Drops Ameritech Golf Bid

CHICAGO — Next year’s Ameritech Senior Open will be played at the new Stonebridge Country Club in Aurora after the Skokie Country Club dropped out in a dispute over PGA Tour requirements on discriminatory policies.
Stonebridge opened for the first time last April. It has two black members and one woman while Skokie has no blacks. The PGA now forbids tour play in clubs that do not have minority members.
“When the PGA announced its terms, Skokie withdrew its offer to host the tournament,” Jack Koten, an Ameritech spokesman, said Wednesday. The $500,000 Ameritech Senior Open is set for next July 19-21.
