ROUNDUP : Eberhart Leads Golden West to Volleyball Championship
Sophomore Joli Eberhart had 16 kills and 19 digs to lead the Golden West College women’s volleyball team to a 15-6, 15-10, 15-13 sweep of Grossmont in the final of the Tournament of Champions Sunday at Santa Barbara College.
Eberhart was selected the tournament’s most valuable player. Kysha Green had 16 kills and five blocks and Stacia Allen had 48 assists; both were selected to the all-tournament team for Golden West (11-0).
Tania Grasselli added 13 kills and Brenda Irby had 12 for the Rustlers.
In Big West Conference men’s soccer:
Nevada Las Vegas 1, UC Irvine 0--Doug Borgel scored in the first half for visiting UNLV. Irvine is 5-10-2, 1-5-1 in the conference.
UC Santa Barbara 1, Cal State Fullerton 0--Garrett Schwartz scored in the second half for host UCSB. Fullerton is 5-7-3, 3-4-1.
In nonconference women’s soccer:
California 1, UC Irvine 0--Chris Olin scored in the first half for visiting California. Irvine is 5-9-2.
