Ford Workers OK Contract: Ford workers approved a three-year labor agreement by an 82% margin, United Auto Workers President Owen Bieber announced. Conforming to the UAW’s preferred system of pattern bargaining, the Ford agreement closely mirrors a contract reached with General Motors earlier this month. The contracts tighten the absenteeism policy and significantly improve job and income security but leave the auto makers free to close plants.
