Weyerhaeuser Officials to Share New Post
Weyerhaeuser Co., the forest products giant, took another step in its succession plan by announcing that Chairman George H. Weyerhaeuser and President John W. Creighton Jr. will share the newly created office of the chief executive.
At the same time, the firm announced the retirement in 1991 of Robert L. Schuyler, executive vice president and CFO, and Frederick R. Fosmire, senior vice president-human resources, technology and engineering.
For 18 months, the Tacoma, Wash., company has conducted an internal review designed to improve profitability. Currently, it ranks in the bottom fourth of similar firms in that area. The company described the joint office as an attempt to improve profitability as well as aid in the leadership transition.
