And Now, a Round of Applause for the New NC-17 Movie Rating
- Share via
Can it really be that your Oct. 18 mail ran 5-to-1 against the NC-17 rating? Boy, puritanism sure is alive and well.
None of the letter writers seemed to understand that the intent of an erotic, adult-oriented film is not necessarily pornographic.
One letter goes so far as to complain that the Times’ ad for “Henry & June” shows part of a woman’s tush. Hell, we see a whole lot more of Heather Locklear’s in her fitness club ads!
Jack Valenti and his ratings people have finally arrived in the 20th Century. I say bravo.
