2 Plead Guilty to Fraud Charges

Two former Orange County residents pleaded guilty Monday to mail and securities fraud charges in connection with a scheme to raise millions of dollars for a phony diet patch that was supposed to suppress hunger.
Jonathan D. Sterns and Mark A. Sterns are scheduled to be sentenced June 17.
Assistant U.S. Atty. Paul Seave said in U.S. District Court in Santa Ana on Monday that the two brothers have agreed to cooperate in an ongoing grand jury investigation of several firms headed by their uncle, David A. Sterns. He has not been charged with any wrongdoing to date.
