Man, 56, Dies in Van Nuys Apartment Fire
A 56-year-old man was killed Tuesday afternoon in a fire that swept through his Van Nuys apartment, fire officials said.
The name of the victim was not made public.
The fire broke out in an apartment in the 14000 block of Delano Street at 3:06 p.m. About 20 firefighters extinguished the blaze in 13 minutes, said Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Greg Acevedo.
No other injuries were reported. Damage was estimated at $35,000.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
