Mark James and Richard Boxall each shot 68, four under par, giving England a one-stroke lead after the first round of the World Cup of Golf in Orlando, Fla.
Spain was alone in second with a 68 from Jose Rivero and a 69 from Miguel Angel Jimenez for a 137.
The United States, Scotland and Argentina were two shots behind England’s 136. Payne Stewart and Jodie Mudd are representing the United States. Thailand’s Saneh Sanqsui, playing for the first time outside Asia, posted the low round, a seven-under 65.
