Big Advertiser Pulls Out: The New York Daily News, its circulation devastated by a month-long strike, has lost one of its biggest advertisers, Macy’s department store, just as the heavy holiday advertising season is getting under way. Macy’s confirmed that it has dropped its advertising in the Daily News. Officials at the striking unions said the A&S; department store, another big advertiser, has done the same. The newspaper’s two tabloid rivals, the New York Post and New York Newsday, have reported large advertising and circulation gains since the sometimes-violent strike began Oct. 25.
