Rohr Manufacturing Plant Opens in Texas

SAN MARCOS, Tex. — Rohr Industries has opened a new 140,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in central Texas in a joint venture with General Electric.
The Rohr subsidiary, Rohr HTA Inc., opened with 50 workers and eventually will employ 250 in the production of heat-resistant metallic parts for commercial and military aircraft and engines. Among the parts produced will be jet engine nozzle assemblies, in-flight thrust reversers, flaps, fan-exit ducts, doors and panels.
Rohr, a Fortune 500 aerospace company with 1989 sales of $1.04 billion, designs, manufactures, integrates and supports technologically advanced aircraft engine systems, thrust reversers, noise suppression systems and engine components for commercial and military aircraft.
The Chula Vista-based company, which also manufactures solid rocket motor casings and nozzles for the space agency, employs 11,000 workers.
