California IN BRIEF : FRESNO : Body Believed to Be That of Missing Pilot

A body believed to be that of a missing pilot whose plane was found submerged in a pond near the San Joaquin River was recovered by Fresno County sheriff’s divers. Although the body has not been officially identified, “we have every reason to suspect it’s the pilot,” said a deputy who declined to give his name. Rescuers have been searching for Bruce Owens, 53, since Friday.
