SHORT TAKES : Cher’s Malibu Home Hits Snag
Cher’s proposed Malibu compound was put on hold by the California Coastal Commission after questions were raised about the huge project.
The 15,000-square-foot home would be located on a 1.7-acre ocean-view bluff just off Pacific Coast Highway near Pepperdine University. The project includes a five-car garage, tennis court, pool and security walls.
Commission spokeswoman Vicky Komie said Wednesday the construction application was postponed after questions were raised about the project’s impact on the neighborhood.
But Cher, through her spokeswoman, said Thursday that approval was delayed because landscaping plans were incomplete.
“There was a postponement because they haven’t submitted a landscaping plan. Nobody has complained. Nobody’s expecting a problem,” said publicist Lois Smith.
No date was scheduled for commission reconsideration, and the commission didn’t disclose the nature of the objections.
