An unidentified woman whose body was found on the side of Ortega Highway on Sunday died of multiple stab wounds, an autopsy determined Monday.
Coroner’s officials will conduct further tests today to determine if the woman was sexually assaulted, Sheriff’s Lt. Richard J. Olson said.
Detectives have been unable to identify the woman. Olson said the victim was discovered about 6:40 a.m. Sunday near Hunt Club Drive by a passing motorist.
The woman was described as a Latina, 4 feet, 6 inches in height, with black medium-length hair, brown eyes, and weighing 110 pounds. Detectives put her age at between 18 to 35.
A silver necklace and a black digital Casio watch were the only items found on her, Olson said, adding that a black-and-white dress was found next to her body.
Anyone having information about the victim can contact the Sheriff’s Department at (714) 647-7000.
