Puma Prowler Is ‘Knocked Out’
IRVINE — A mountain lion that apparently had been casing the Northwood neighborhood for the last few nights was cornered Friday and tranquilized by police.
“This is the second night in a row we got a call about a mountain lion in that area,” Irvine Police Lt. Mike White said.
About 9 p.m. Friday, a resident told police a puma was in her back yard on Hunter. When officers arrived, they found the animal in a tree.
City animal control agents shot it with a tranquilizer dart.
“Right now it’s knocked out and lying in a flower bed,” White said. “Nobody wants to be the first one to go up to him and see how he’s doing.”
