“A Step Ahead,” by Idelle Davidson (Dec. 23/30) states: “In 1410, Edward IV of England put his royal foot down.” You are wrong. It was not Edward IV; it was Henry IV, who was already on the throne in 1410.

Editor’s Note: The article is half wrong. King Edward IV did, in fact, ban the crackow-- shoes with toes that extended 24 inches beyond the foot--but he did so in 1463, not 1410, as reported.
