Estranged Husband Held in Killing of Woman

The estranged husband of a Southern California Edison Co. accountant who was shot and killed at work in Rancho Dominguez was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder several hours after the shooting, authorities said Thursday.
Sheriff’s Deputy Bill Linnemeyer of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said deputies arrested Hector Chavez, 30, Wednesday night in Alhambra as he apparently walked toward the home of a relative.
Earlier in the day, his wife, Lorraine, 31, was at work at an Edison plant when a man walked in and shot her in the head, shoulder and abdomen as horrified co-workers looked on.
She was pronounced dead at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Investigators still had not settled on a possible motive for the shooting. But Linnemeyer noted that the victim’s husband had been under a court restraining order since mid-January.
