HARNESS RACING: LOS ALAMITOS : Bag A Few, Pantie Ho Run Deadheat in $20,000 California Sire Stake
Bag A Few, the 3-5 favorite, needed a furious stretch run to catch Pantie Ho and finish in a deadheat in the $20,000 California Sire Stake for three-year-old pacing fillies Friday night at Los Alamitos.
Both fillies were timed in 1:58 for the mile and shared the $15,000 winner’s purse. Mother Goose finished third.
Bag A Few, ridden by James Grundy, paid $2.20, $2.40 and $2.20. Pantie Ho, with Rick Plano aboard, paid $2.80, $2.80 and $2.80. Mother Goose, with Joe Anderson up, paid $3.20 to show.
Pantie Ho, which went off at 4-1, took the lead from the outside post in the field of nine nearing the quarter-mile marker, then relinquished it for a moment along grandstand to Mother Goose. Bag A Few drew into contention in the final turn and got up in the final stride to catch Pantie Ho at the wire.
