Chatsworth Boys, Girls Go for Sweep
The Chatsworth High boys’ and girls’ soccer teams hope to make it a sweep in the City finals today at Birmingham High in Van Nuys. The girls play San Pedro at noon, and the boys meet Bell at 2:45 p.m.
This is the first time teams from the same school have played for City soccer titles in the same season.
The Chatsworth boys defeated Fremont, 3-2, on penalty kicks Thursday to advance. The Chancellors’ last appearance in the championship match was in 1983. Bell defeated Belmont, 2-1, Wednesday.
In girls’ semifinal matches played Wednesday, Chatsworth defeated Birmingham, 7-2, and San Pedro beat El Camino Real, 1-0.
