The German-built Fox amphibious chemical warfare vehicles are deployed across the battlefield, searching out traces of gas and chemical weapons.

EQUIPMENT: Filled with computers and map readouts for pinpoint navigation on the trackless desert.
NUMBERS: Each U.S. division along the front has six Fox vehicles.
HOW IT WORKS: Two silicone wheels in the back snatch up dirt, which is heated to 500 degrees. It is tested, within seconds, for signs of nerve agents, mustard gas or nuclear radiation. Weighted warning flags are dropped to mark contaminated areas.
