THREE-DAY WEEKEND BOX OFFICE : A Replay of the Top Five

Though two new titles managed to snare spots in the weekend’s Top 10, moviegoers rallied to more familiar titles. In fact, the top five films were a virtual replay of last week’s, with Orion Pictures’ “Silence of the Lambs” again snaring No. 1--jumping about 4% over its opening weekend. Of the just-out titles, Paramount’s “He Said, She Said,” which details a romance from both the male and female points of view, debuted in seventh place with $2.8 million. Warner Bros.’ “Nothing But Trouble”--which opened last weekend to deadly reviews, and eighth place--plummeted to 10th place.

* “Scenes From a Mall” opened to disappointing reviews and equally disappointing box office. But the slim receipts of $3.8 million on 1,039 screens was enough for sixth place.
