George Gobel

I would like to express my thanks for Burt A. Folkart’s incisive capsulized story on George Gobel (“TV Comedian George Gobel Dies at 71” Feb. 25). I was George’s friend since 1946 and his public relations man for 3 of those years.
The Gobel family was touched by the many caring cards, telegrams and calls from “the little people:” the many acts who worked with “Little George Gobel” over the years--the dancers, the jugglers, the magicians--and the crews from so many of his television shows. They spoke of his humility, sensitivity and dignity. To quote a line from my eulogy: “ ‘Little Georgie Gobel’ was indeed a very tall man.”
