The Downtown Newhall Merchants Assn. will present the ninth annual Walk of Western Stars Awards program and Celebrity Bar-B-Que today to honor U.S. western heritage celebrities. This year’s honorees are Hugh O’Brian, star of the Wyatt Earp series; Denver Pyle, from the “Dukes of Hazard” television series, and Hoyt Axton, Western singer, actor, songwriter and musician. The festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. with entertainment, followed by the barbecue dinner and award presentations. The program will be held at CalArts, 24700 W. McBean Parkway, Santa Clarita. The Valley League for Hathaway, a support group for Hathaway Children’s Services in the San Fernando Valley, will host “A Monte Carlo Evening” April 13. Entertainment will feature gaming and prizes, dinner, dancing and a silent auction. “A Monte Carlo Evening” will be held at the National Guard Armory, 17330 Victory Blvd., Van Nuys, from 7 p.m. to midnight.
