With their five children nearby, an El Cajon woman was shot to death Tuesday by her estranged husband, who then shot himself, El Cajon police said.
Names of the couple were being withheld until other relatives could be notified.
El Cajon police said the husband came to the house about 4 p.m. and shot the woman twice in the head with a .38-caliber handgun. She died in the living room.
He then shot himself in the head, and was listed in critical condition at Sharp Memorial Hospital. No further information was available.
