Trout, Bass Aplenty Are There for You
It’s the time of year when there is something available for every angler.
Trout season is in full swing in the Eastern Sierra, and rainbows are still active in many Southland reservoirs. Largemouth bass are feeding in the shallows. Catfish are moving up as the weather warms. Crappie and bluegill have come alive around the brush and docks in most lakes.
Recent top catches include a 10-pound 9-ounce rainbow trout from Orange County’s Irvine Lake by Bill Shinbanc of Encino; 27-and 24-pound striped bass from San Bernardino County’s Silverwood Lake by David Humphrey of Ontario and an 11-pound largemouth bass from Ventura County’s Lake Casitas by Norm Smith of Oak View.
