Promoter Murad Muhammad was fined $25,000 and barred from promoting fights in Nevada for a year for his role in a brawl after the controversial ending to the March 18 Mike Tyson-Donovan (Razor) Ruddock heavyweight fight.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission viewed videotapes of the altercation, which showed Muhammad kicking Tyson’s trainer, Richard Giachetti, as Giachetti and Ruddock’s brother, Delroy, tangled on the canvas.
The melee occurred after referee Richard Steele stopped the fight on a controversial call in the seventh round with Ruddock taking punishment from Tyson but still on his feet.
