Needless to say, I was flabbergasted that three of the policemen involved in the King beating now claim that they “feared for their lives” (Part A, May 21). If these well-armed, brave souls feared for their lives when confronted with three black men in a compact car stopped for an alleged traffic violation, I cannot imagine how they would respond to a truly dangerous situation. It does give one pause to wonder, who would you trust in an emergency?
