Portland Loses Gracefully, Detroit Doesn’t

The character of a team and of an organization is most exposed after a disheartening defeat. Standing in stark contrast are Detroit’s Bill Laimbeer and Portland’s Terry Porter.
In postgame interviews, Laimbeer chose to deliver a childishly defeat, two-worded mantra (“We lost”), but Porter chose to take the time to give meaningful responses to those same type of repetitive questions (“I’ve said this 50 times tonight . . . “)
Yes, Mr. Laimbeer, you indeed lost. But you lost more than a game; you lost your grace under pressure.
