San Dimas : Boosters Want Pool Open
Some residents are looking for ways to keep the city pool open during the school year so students can participate in water sports.
During budget discussions this month, the City Council decided that it could save $18,600 by closing the pool at the publicly owned San Dimas Swim and Racquet Club from September to June. A vote on the money-saving measure is set June 25.
San Dimas High School swim and water polo teams use the club pool for practices and competitions.
Lily Peters, whose 15-year-old daughter is a member of the swim team, said about 20 parents and students have volunteered to hold fund-raisers to pay for using the pool from September to mid-November and February to mid-May. They also plan to form a booster club, she said.
