U.N. Delays Action on Iraq’s Plea to Sell Oil

NEW YORK — The U.N. Security Council’s sanctions committee Thursday postponed action on Iraq’s plea to sell $1.5 billion worth of oil to buy food, medicine and agricultural implements.
Iraq says it needs oil revenue to alleviate food and medical shortages that it says have killed 6,000 children.
