Elderly Man Walks Into Bus, Badly Hurt
SANTA ANA — An 88-year-old man was critically injured after he walked headlong into an Orange County Transit District bus Thursday, police said.
Jose Ernesto Ruiz of Santa Ana suffered head trauma, cuts on the face and broken ribs in the 2:15 p.m. accident, police said.
They said Ruiz was walking in a crosswalk on Santa Ana Boulevard when he walked into an OCTD bus heading east on Flower Street.
Ruiz “walked into the bus at its front passenger door,” Police Sgt. Dave Nick said. “The driver stopped the bus immediately.”
The bus driver was not cited.
