A look inside Hollywood and the movies. : THE END : An Even Half Dozen

After Film Clips reported a few weeks ago that five Black Panther feature-film projects were in the works, a sixth one came to our attention.
Jamal Joseph, a former Panther party leader, is trying to raise money for his independent project, “Liberated Territory--A Rite of Passage.” He wrote the screenplay and plans to direct the movie, a semi-autobiographical account of several teen-agers who join the Panthers. The film, says Joseph, will also take a hard-hitting look at the FBI’s counterintelligence activities during that period.
Joseph is an ex-convict who has won a James Arthur Baldwin playwriting award and a Black Film Makers Hall of Fame award for his AIDS film, “Seriously Fresh.”
