Mayor Tom Bradley Friday named a 17-year member of his staff as executive director of the Los Angeles Commission on the Status of Women. Paula Petrotta will assume the post Sept. 9, replacing Susan Rose, who resigned in April.
During her tenure in Bradley’s office, Petrotta has served as an appointment deputy for the selection of citizens to the city’s 40 commissions and has helped develop city policies relating to sexual harassment and gender-neutral language. She also has served as a member of the city’s Emergency Operations Organization and was involved in operation assessments for Hurricane Hugo, the Whittier Narrows earthquake, the Loma Prieta earthquake and the Tangshan, China, earthquake.
