The body of an unidentified man was found in waist-deep water off Ocean Beach, officials said.
Two boys found the body near lifeguard tower 5 at 10:39 a.m. Monday, lifeguard Lt. Brant Bass said. As the boys informed lifeguards, two adults dragged the body ashore.
The man was fully clothed, wearing blue trousers, white tennis shoes and a blue, striped sports shirt under a brown, zippered and hooded sweat shirt. The body appeared to have been in the water for about a day, Bass said.
The 5-foot-4, 118-pound man was estimated to be between 25 and 35 years old, according to the San Diego County medical examiner’s office. He had short black hair, a beard, a mustache and braces on his teeth.
Police are checking to see if there is a connection between the body and the capsizing of a stolen boat, Bass said. The boat was stolen at the De Anza boat launch and found capsized Saturday, he said. No one was aboard.
