Jailing of Mentally Ill

The series was most disturbing. It is as though I was reading something from 17th-Century Europe. That these conditions exist today, in a country supposedly as concerned for people as ours, is unconscionable. I hope former Gov. George Deukmejian and members of the state Legislature who didn’t have the courage to override his budget vetoes have had a chance to read the report. They should be aware of the suffering they are causing.
