A TV news cameraman was assaulted and robbed of his watch while filming a story about the homeless in downtown San Diego, police said.
Richard Klein, who works for KGTV (Channel 10), the ABC-affiliate in San Diego, was robbed by four men in the 200 block of 17th Street about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, said San Diego Police Sgt. Micki Farrell.
Klein suffered head injuries and was taken to Coronado Hospital, where he was treated and released, a nursing supervisor said.
Besides his watch, the assailants tried to take Klein’s video camera, but did not succeed, Farrell said.
A short while later, three suspects were arrested, Farrell said. They were identified as Enrique Jesus Vasquez, 19; Jorge Gargape, 19; and Juan Leon Herdez, 20.
