Pasadena : Enterprise Center Grant

The City Council on Tuesday approved a $50,000 grant for the Pasadena Enterprise Center, a small-business alliance that has been operating in the Northwest section of the city for three years.
The center, an “incubator” for new businesses, provides business counseling, supplies and low-cost commercial space. It occupies 2,000 square feet in a building on North Lake Avenue, but center administrators are negotiating to buy a 15,000-square-foot county building four blocks away, said executive director Sandy Bourne.
The program already has eight businesses in operation, including a real estate broker, an appraiser, a bookkeeper, an insurance broker and a carpenter, Bourne said.
